Three primary school pupils died in a tragic accident at Kibuon in Nyakach, Kisumu County along the Sondu-Katito road on Wednesday April 2, 2025 in the morning.
The victims were pupils from Ober Boarding Boys Primary School in Rachuonyo East Sub-County.
The accident occurred on Wednesday at 6 am when a 14-seater matatu carrying students collided with a truck transporting sugarcane.
A matatu conductor was also killed during the accident.
Nyakach OCPD Laurinius Odinga confirmed the incident, adding that six pupils who were seriously injured were admitted to Nyabondo Hospital.
Meanwhile, three pupils who sustained minor injuries were also rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Police towed the wreckage of the matatu to Katito Police Station as they launched investigations into the incident.
