Excitement is reaching new heights as Afraha Stadium in Nakuru County prepares to host a major athletics event for the first time in 10 years.

The much-anticipated fourth leg of the AK/Betika Track and Field Weekend Meet is scheduled to take place on April 4-5, 2025, marking a significant milestone for the region.

David Otiti, Treasurer of Athletics Kenya (AK) Nakuru region and a former athlete from the 1980s, expressed his excitement for the return of top-tier athletics to Nakuru.

He emphasized that the county’s central location in Kenya’s athletics heartland makes it a prime venue for elite competition.

“It’s a great opportunity for athletes to test their form as they prepare for international competitions, including the Tokyo World Championships in August,” said Otiti.

The Nakuru meet follows previous legs held in Mumias, Thika, and Kapsabet, further cementing its place in the national athletics calendar.

Athletes and participants are encouraged to register and collect their bib numbers at Afraha Stadium on April 3, 2025, between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
