Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, has officially began a tour of all the 6 counties in the Coast Region. The tour commenced on Monday 7th April and will come to an end on Saturday 12th April 2025.

The main aim of his tour is to assess the security situation in the coast region by engaging leaders, regional and county security teams, to enhance security, peace and cohesion.

He is also supposed to gauge the level of disaster preparedness in the coastal region in face of rising climate change.

“During my working tour of all six counties in the Coast Region I will assess the level of disaster preparedness in the wake of rising climate change- driven extreme weather conditions.”  CS Murkomen stated in a post on X (Formerly Twitter)

The Jukwaa La Usalama County Tours by the CS is expected to be interactive where feedback from the Wananchi will be taken seriously and acted upon if need be.

Kenya’s coastal region faces both land-based and maritime threats, including environmental degradation, over-exploitation of resources, pollution, and security concerns like piracy and smuggling. All these issues are expected to be addressed by the CS.
