Kenyan musician David Mathenge, popularly referred to as Nameless, is in mourning following the death of his biological father, Mzee Joshua Mathenge.
In a heartbreaking Instagram post, the popular Kenyan singer broke the news to the world, celebrating the late Mzee Joshua for being a great dad.
“Rest well, daddy. I am blessed beyond measure to have had you as a father,” reads Nameless’ post.
The singer undoubtedly had a close and great relationship with his dad, whom he did not hesitate to celebrate and share news about on his social media handles.
Four years ago, Mzee Joshua underwent a successful head surgery after spending 10 days in the hospital, and the singer gratefully celebrated the news.
“Just a gratitude post!! Behind the scenes, my dad has been in the hospital for about ten days to undergo head surgery because he had some blood clots in his head that caused some minor strokes, a condition called subdural hematoma (something like that). It was nerve-racking for our family, especially because of his age, but the surgery went well thanks to a brilliant team of doctors under the leadership of neurosurgeon Dr. Olunya, who also treated me three years ago when I had a similar life-threatening brain condition that some of you may remember,” wrote Nameless.
On April 28, 2024, the “Nasinzia” crooner took to his accounts to mark his dad’s 88th birthday.
Joined by his siblings, he noted how his dad’s open pride in his children made them happy, thanking the Almighty for the great health of their dad.
“Hang out with Dad on his 88th birthday and could not help but be grateful for mum and Dad’s health!! Dad told us something that I will hold close to my heart. He said he sometimes sits and watches each and every one of his kids and can’t believe he was blessed with such good children that always stick together! That made us feel really good about ourselves! He also told us to always remember that we can’t know everything and to be okay with being corrected and also to be free to correct each other if we think we need to. Growth is key in any relationship! Was a special, fulfilled day for us. Happy birthday, Dad. You are the MAN!” Nameless lovingly penned.
