President William Ruto has showed his confidence in the recently launched Social Health Authority (SHA).

Speaking in Elgeyo Marakwet County during an Interdenominational Church Service he attended in Kapng’etik, President Ruto clarified that the move from NHIF to SHA was necessitated by NHIF’s failure.

He further noted that the migration was part of his promise to Kenyans urging citizens to ignore naysayers spreading Propaganda around the new health coverage system.

According to him, SHA will work ten times better than NHIF arguing that he can never be part of anything that is going to fail.

“We made a commitment that we are going to change NHIF, and that is exactly what is going on. SHA is going to work ten times better than NHIF. Pesa imeanza kuja kutoka claims ya SHA kusaidia. The more you treat your people; the more SHA will pay for that treatment. Public facilities will be the biggest beneficiaries. Katika kujisajili, msisikize wale ambao wanaendesha tu propaganda, eti ooh SHA haifanyi kazi. For you songa mbele. SHA is going to work! Mimi siwezi enda kufanya kazi ambayo haina mpango. I’ve been here for a long while. Mimi ndiyo tulisaidiana tukaongeza NHIF. Tukafanya reforms ikafika mahali ikashindikana.” President Ruto candidly sated.

The President’s sentiments only come days after Government Senior Advisor Moses Kuria also drummed support for the new health coverage system.

While praising SHA, Moses Kuria rubbished ongoing criticism while claiming that African Countries are coming to Kenya to benchmark on it. He further claimed that  the President would bag a Nobel Peace Prize because of SHA, which he notes will be number one in the world.

“I have no doubt in my mind that Taifa Care will be number one in the whole world, and by next year, when they are giving out the Nobel Prize, I am sure President Ruto will be given the Nobel because of coming up with this kind of comprehensive program,” Kuria stated.
