Officers from Muthaiga Police Station are holding a man who hacked into Jambo Pay and transfered Ksh49 milion. Joseph Momanyi is said to have hacked into Web Tribes the owner of Jambo Pay between July 19 and 24, 2024 and after gaining access the suspect tranfered the money into Safaricom Mobile numbers (M-pesa wallets), Till numbers and bank accounts.
Police say, Momanyi is being investigated for computer fraud contrary to section 26 of computer misuse and cybercrimes and also money laundering.
According to the police Momanyi confessed that he was not working alone and allegedly agreed to assist investigators in tracing and arresting his accomplices.
