Cleophas Malala has once again come out to reiterate that the controversial ‘Echoes of War’ play will eventually be performed in Kenya.
While Speaking to TV 47’s Liz Mutuku on popular Ukumbi wa Siasa show, Malala stated that if school students are completely barred from performing the play, he’ll find an adult cast who will deliver the play on a stage here in Kenya.
“We’re going to perform this play in our country for our people. Endapo shule zitakatazwa, sisi tumeamua kwamba tutatapata adult casts ambao wanaweza fanya acting vizuri na tuwaweke katika hall Fulani hapa Kenya… Inaweza kuwa Netflix ama tunaweza fanya live performance . Unaweza simamisha binadamu lakini huwezi simamisha Echo,”Malala boldly said.
Addressing the dramatic events surrounding the play, the Former United Democratic Alliance(UDA) Secretary General noted he is on a justice finding mission to unravel the individual or individuals behind orders barring Butere Girls Students from performing at the Nationals.
He noted being ready to get even to International platforms to seek justice for the students who were teargassed on the fateful National concerts day.
Further, he urged the Government and relevant authorities to apologize to the students over what according to him was unwarranted teargassing.
“Wale walidhulumu wasichana wa Butere, they must be accountable.” He stated claiming the end of Drama Festivals doesn’t mean those who mistreated the girls will walk away unpunished.
Joining Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya in the public outcry over their personal security, Malala claimed his life and that of his family is also in danger.
“Pia mimi maisha yangu iko hatarini. Familia yangu nimeisafirisha, wameenda kukaa mahali ambapo siwezi sema,”he claimed.
Malala has been on the news headlines over ‘Echoes of War’ play he authored for Butere Girls students.
On Wednesday 9th April,2025 Malala was arrested in a chaotic night before Butere Girls students made history on Thursday 10th April, 2025 after getting on stage only to sing the National anthem and walk away without performing as scheduled.
