Tragedy struck Sigomre in Siaya County on Tuesday night after a family of nine perished in a suspected arson attack. The victims; a man, his wife, and their seven children were asleep when unknown individuals allegedly set their house on fire.

According to Sylvester Omondi, the family’s caretaker, he woke up to the strong smell of petrol around midnight. Upon rushing outside, he found the house engulfed in flames and locked from the outside. His efforts to break in and rescue the family were unsuccessful.
