A wave of shock and grief has swept through the village of Mujimba 9, Siabuwa, following a tragic incident where a 23-year-old woman allegedly hanged her six-year-old disabled daughter to death.
According to Crime Watch Zimbabwe, the suspect, Melody Mwiinde, was arrested on Friday, April 25, 2025, two days after the horrifying act is believed to have occurred. Police reports indicate that Mwiinde allegedly used an electrical cable to hang her daughter from a tree branch before hiding the child’s body in an abandoned hut.
Authorities revealed that during interrogation, Mwiinde confessed to the act. She allegedly cited persistent mockery and social stigma from the community, saying people ridiculed her for raising a disabled child who had been abandoned by her father.
Investigations are ongoing.
