Anti-narcotics detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI have arrested an Indian national in a major operation targeting the illegal possession and distribution of pharmaceutical drugs in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The suspect, Malik Aman, was apprehended following a co-ordinated raid at his residence, where detectives recovered a wide assortment of pharmaceutical products believed to be in contravention of drug regulations. Acting on a search warrant issued by an Iten court, the officers, part of a specialized anti-narcotics unit, inventoried the recovered substances before ferrying them away as exhibits.
According to investigators, Aman had been under surveillance for a period of time prior to the operation.
Following his arrest, the suspect was placed in custody but later released on cash bail as detectives continue with investigations. The confiscated drugs have been submitted to the government chemist for forensic examination to determine their composition and legality.
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to combating the sale, distribution, and consumption of illicit drugs, warning that all individuals regardless of nationality will face the full force of the law if found in violation.
