The United Democratic Alliance UDA has issued formal summons to Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba, accusing her of breaching the party’s code of conduct.

In a letter dated May 7, 2025, and signed by the party’s Disciplinary Committee Chairperson, Charles Njenga, UDA outlined three incidents that it claims contradict the values and expectations of the ruling party.

Top on the list is Orwoba’s appearance at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on April 17, 2025, where she joined others in welcoming former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i back into the country.

The party also cited her attendance at Matiang’i’s homecoming event at Gusii Stadium in Kisii on May 2, 2025, as another point of concern.

Additionally, UDA took issue with remarks Orwoba made during an interview on Spice FM on April 22, 2025, accusing her of displaying “allegiance to another political movement” and acting in a manner that undermines the party’s image.

“Your participation and utterances in the aforementioned events clearly point to conduct unbecoming, disloyalty, and a shift in political allegiance,” reads part of the letter.

According to UDA, Orwoba’s actions amount to gross misconduct and violate the party’s constitution and code of conduct to which she is bound.

The party has now summoned her to appear before its Disciplinary Committee on May 16, 2025, at 9 a.m. at the Hustler Plaza, 4th Floor Boardroom. There, she is expected to explain why disciplinary measures should not be taken against her.
