Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday visited Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi at Karen Hospital, where the legislator is receiving medical attention following his alleged abduction on Sunday.

Gachagua arrived at the hospital amid heightened political tension and public concern over the MP’s safety and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Koimburi was reportedly abducted in broad daylight during a church service, only to be found hours later in distress at Jacaranda Coffee Plantation in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Footage of the MP in pain has raised fears of possible torture, prompting an outcry from opposition leaders and civil society groups.

The visit by Gachagua, a prominent critic of the current administration, signals the growing political weight the incident is garnering.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has denied any involvement, with conflicting reports suggesting the possibility that the abduction may have been staged. However, leaders across the political divide are calling for an impartial investigation to uncover the truth.

Gachagua’s visit comes a day before an emergency opposition meeting convened by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, aimed at addressing what he termed as increasing political harassment and threats to civil liberties.
