Detectives have rescued a 3-year-old boy who was abducted from his home in Ruiru, Kiambu County, following an intensive manhunt that led to the arrest of two male suspects.

The operation was triggered by a missing child report filed at Ruiru Police Station by the distraught parents. Officers from the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit immediately launched investigations, which took them across various counties, including parts of the Western and Central regions.

The breakthrough came when detectives stormed a residence in Tetu, Nyeri County, where they found the missing child in the company of two men, George Maina, the homeowner, and Samuel Juma, believed to be the man who abducted the child from Ruiru. The boy was promptly rescued, and the suspects arrested on the spot.

Medical examinations are currently being conducted on the child as he awaits reunion with his parents, who have been informed of the successful rescue.

This arrest comes amid a surge in child disappearance cases that have rattled the country. Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to cracking down on child trafficking, with the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit pledging to intensify operations to safeguard children nationwide.
