President Ruto has extend an olive branch to Tanzania on behalf of Kenyan activists who had travelled to Tanzania for the hearing of the case against Tanzanian Opposition Leader Tundu Lisu who is facing treason charges but were denied entry.

“To our neighbors from Tanzania, if we have wronged you in any way, we ask for your forgiveness. The President said as he also extended an olive branch to Uganda Our neighbors from Uganda saying ”if there is anything that Kenya has done that is not right, we apologize”

Speaking during the National Prayer Breakfast President Ruto stated that Kenya wants to build a relationship that will make our country great.

Speaking during the same event Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said Kenya should build lasting relationships with her neighbors stating that the events of the past weeks are unnecessary.

”The exchanges we have seen from our political leaders between our countries, we must use moments like these (prayer) to arrest those situations, because it doesn’t look tidy when brothers and neighbors are talking to each other. We must build good relationships and sustain them.” stated Kindiki.

Speaking Saturday during an event, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan reiterated her earlier stance against what she described as “outsiders” aiming to destabilise the country.

Suluhu stated that she will not allow any form of interference from outside as she vowed to continue to safeguard her nation’s sovereignty and interests.

On Monday Tanzanian MPs backed President Suluhu amid criticism for her comments that the rights campaigners attempted to interfere in the country’s affairs and should not be tolerated.

The Members of Parliament criticized what they described as an “imported activism” campaign aimed at sowing chaos and instability in Tanzania and called for stricter security checks on individuals entering the country.

People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua, Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga and two Kenyan activists, Hanifa Adan and Hussein Khalid, were detained at the Julius Nyerere Airport, Dar es Salaam and denied entry.
