During the National Prayer Breakfast held at Safari Park Hotel, Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi delivered a heartfelt prayer, voicing concern over the growing influence of social media in shaping national discourse and decision making.

“We pray that this social media that has decided to run our country, we confess that as legislators, that we must sort out that sector,” Elachi said, urging leaders to reclaim their moral and civic authority amid the digital wave.

Elachi’s remarks drew attention to the outsized role online platforms now play in Kenya’s political and social environment, often swaying public opinion and policy debates with minimal accountability. Her words resonated as both a spiritual plea and a political call to action, urging fellow leaders to lead with conviction and resist being steered by online trends.

She continued with a reflection on the moral and social challenges facing the nation, praying for forgiveness over tribalism, parental neglect, and lack of discipline among the youth.

“As parents we felt it is good for our children to be who they are, now they have rebelled, Father, forgive us,” she said, quoting scripture on the importance of discipline in parenting and leadership.

Elachi also asked for transformation within government ranks: “That those who implement in the Executive stop sabotaging the Executive, that they implement projects asking what is in there for me,,” Elachi continued to ask for Devine power so that the nation can benefit from its resources saying ” We pray that our resources will help our people, that our revenue can be a blessing, not a curse.”

The Prayer Breakfast brought together leaders from across the political spectrum for a moment of national reflection, unity, and repentance.
