Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua has directed for the arrest of individuals accused of selling fake job application documents to youth seeking employment abroad in Mombasa County.
Speaking during a recruitment exercise for overseas jobs in Ukunda, Kwale County, Mutua urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to apprehend those preying on unsuspecting job seekers through fraud and deceit.
He also advised young Kenyans heading abroad for work to maintain discipline, following reports that 15 Kenyans were deported recently over allegations of participating in protests.
Leaders accompanying the CS supported his sentiments, noting that the initiative would help reduce crime among youth in the region.
Over 800 youths from Kwale County are set to benefit from jobs in Dubai, including positions in the hospitality and delivery sectors, as part of the 3,500 job slots allocated to the Coast region by the government.
One week ago the government launched a new recruitment drive targeting local youths for 2,000 job opportunities in Dubai.
