Deputy president Kithure Kindiki has lauded the broad based government’s efforts in fostering national unity and easing political tension that previously gripped the nation. In his address during Homa Bay Madaraka day celebration, Kindiki highlighted the efforts made in creating a more inclusive, calm and cohesive environment attributing part of the effort to former prime minister Raila Odinga who in a show of cross-party respect called him a patriot that puts the nation’s interest before his own.

His remarks come at a time Kenya is experiencing various political realignments and formations ahead of the 2027 polls.

“He is courageous and patient enough all the time to consider Kenya greater than each one of us,” DP Kindiki said.

The Deputy President also all rallied Kenyans to embrace unity across all generations regardless of their age and societal status insisting its the only way towards realizing Kenya’s vast potential.

“We find ourselves in one ecosystem because we all belong to one country, no generation is superior to another, the older have a role to play, the younger and even the unborn will have a role to play,” said Kindiki.

Kindiki’s unity remarks come in the wake of growing discontent by Gen Zs who rejected President Ruto’s apology during the national prayer breakfast.

According to Kindiki, the government has diversified investment of national resources in different sectors in an effort to spur balanced development and economic growth.

“I’m glad under your administration your excellency we are spending money not only on the traditional value chains in tea and coffee and all the other important crops grown in our country but we are also spending enough resources to make sure our country maximizes on the blue economy resources”
