Former Chief Justice David Maraga, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa today arrived at Milimani Law Courts to represent Web designer Rose Njeri in a case the prosecution has recommended cybercrime charges.

Njeri who was arrested last week after police raided her home in Nairobi is believed to have shared a link via her website known as Civic Email which flagged some of the clauses in this year’s finance bill as ones that would lead to a sharp rise in the cost of living.

Before proceeding to Milimani Law courts, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka joined the growing pressure from Kenyans who were demanding immediate release of Rose Njeri in calling pressuring the government into either releasing her or availing her in court.

“The police, why would you keep Njeri, you could have given her a police bail,” Kalonzo said earlier in the morning.

He further called upon all leaders to unite and defend the less privileged in what he termed as state violating rights and freedoms of its citizens.

“This is not just about Rose Njeri; this is about the voice of every Kenyan who dares to speak against injustice,” added Kalonzo.

Former Chief Justice David Maraga and DAP-K leader also echoed his sentiments. Rose Njeri was finally freed on KSh 100,000 bond. She faces charges of unauthorized computer interference, with ruling set for June 20.

Kalonzo also declared that on 25th of June 2025 they will observe a public holiday to commemorate last year’s Gen Zs who lost their lives during the anti-finance demonstrations.

This comes amid renewed concerns among Kenya’s youth as the 2025 finance bill has already led to many speculating it could lead to skyrocketing of the cost of living
