A woman from Nangoma village in Matayos Constituency, Busia County, has declared herself to be Mary, the Mother of Jesus. The woman Judith Nafula, was a devout member of the Catholic Church before being excommunicated by a priest for allegedly prophesying and praying for people to the point of healing them.
Nafula, claims she was given the name “Mary” by the Holy Spirit after completing a two-month period of fasting, during which she says she received divine instructions to perform miracles.
”My name is mother Mary, that is the name Jesus gave me the first day he came to my house; a light descended upon me and I heard a voice asking I am looking for mother mary, I have been sent by God.”Judith explained.
Judith claims that the voice spoke to her saying she was born through the holy spirit.”When I heard the voice calling mother Mary, I said i am not her but it insisted that that has been a secret that has to come to light, you were born through the holy spirit.”
Judith says the same vision that came to her was experienced by her husband, John Wekullo, who claimed he had been declared as Joseph, the Biblical spouse to Mary.

She also claims to have received the ability to do miracles.
