Doja Cat, J Balvin and Tems are the music acts headlining the inaugural FIFA World Cup Final halftime show in New Jersey next month.

The artists represent three musical genres: hip-hop, Latin reggaeton and Afrobeats.

The line-up has been curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and the event will hope to emulate the success of the long-running Super Bowl half-time show, which has featured stars including Kendrick Lamar and Rihanna in recent years.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino said: “This show will be unforgettable – not just for its spectacle on a landmark night, but also for the lasting impact it will make.”

Teams including Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain will take part in the tournament across the US from 15 June to 13 July.

Cristiano Ronaldo has declined offers to play for various teams at the tournament. The 40-year-old is out of contract with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr at the end of June.

On the other hand Lionel Messi wants to play at the 2026 World Cup, according to his Inter Miami teammate Luis Suárez.

Previously an annual tournament contested by seven teams, the Club World Cup has been expanded to 32 teams and is aiming for an increased global profile.
