Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has expressed her sadness over a tragic road accident involving tourists along Dundori-Oljororok Road in the Gichaka area, Nyandarua County.The accident which occured on June 9 claimed lives of 6 (4 men, a woman and a child) while 27 others were seriously injured and rushed to Nyahururu hospital.

Through a statement on X platform, the CS conveyed her condolences to the bereaved families while urging drivers to exercise caution on roads especially during rainy seasons when most of them are slippery.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic accident involving tourists, which occurred last evening along Dundori-Oljororok Road. My heartfelt condolences to the affected families during this difficult time as I urge our drivers to be extra careful, especially along unfamiliar roads. Our sincere sympathies,” Miano said.
According to eyewitnesses the bus lost control moments after it began raining and rolled several times before landing in a roadside ditch.
At the moment of writing 3 tourists out of the total 28 who were travelling in the tour bus from Panari resort in Nyahururu had not been accounted for and therefore the search was still ongoing.
