Pride and happiness was witnessed in Suba land, Homa Bay County on Thursday June 12, 2025 as locals gathered in Magunga town to witness a historic moment for one of their own, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi, delivering the national budget.
Hailing from the little-known Suba community within the larger Luo region, Mbadi’s address marked a significant milestone for the minority group, often overshadowed in national discourse.
Suba stakeholders, elders, and residents came out in large numbers to follow the live broadcast of the budget reading, cheering as Mbadi took to the floor of the National Assembly on Thursday afternoon.
The event sparked deep communal pride, with many calling it a moment of long-overdue recognition for the Suba people.
While celebrating their son’s national achievement, the residents also lauded the contents of the budget, noting its inclusive approach and wide-ranging focus on key sectors affecting all Kenyans.
They however, urged the government to ensure the full implementation of the budget, emphasizing that tangible change will only be realized if the proposals are translated into action to uplift the lives of ordinary citizens.
