A multi Agency team in Mombasa County comprising of Police Officers from Kongowea Police Station in Nyali and National Government Administration Officers have recovered suspected narcotic drugs and arrested arrested a suspect after conducting an operation in Makaburini area. The suspect was immediately taken into custody as investigations continue.

According to an official police statement, the suspect and recovered cache of items are believed to be linked to drug trafficking in Mombasa County.

“One suspect was arrested after being found in possession of several items, including at least 80 rolls of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, two kitchen knives, and 10 gas lighters, among other items.” read the statement.

National Police Service hailed this operation as a success underscoring the government’s intensified campaign against drug trafficking and abuse, especially in coastal regions historically affected by the menace.

“This operation is part of a broader national effort to eliminate the drug menace, in collaboration with other government agencies and members of the public, who continue to play a key role by providing crucial information.,” read part of the statement issued by the NPS.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned once the forensic analysis of the recovered substances is complete while he remains in Police custody at the moment.
