Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has has come out firmly to reject efforts by senior government officials to lure him into joining the Kenya Kwanza administration. A number of high ranking officials from the government have in recent weeks intensified efforts of wooing the Wiper Party Leader into joining them citing the ‘cousins coalition’ as one misleading him.
Kalonzo has however vowed never to work with what he described as a “blood-stained regime.”
In a strongly worded statement, Kalonzo has issued a stern warning to some state leaders who he claims are trying to use his name to mislead the public.
“I want to make it clear: I will never work with this blood-based regime. Let no one be misled by those peddling falsehoods and attempting to use my name to sanitize injustice,” said Kalonzo.
Kalonzo along with his ‘cousin brothers’ that is, Former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua have vowed to go ahead and mark June 25 as a day of remembrance for the Gen Z protesters who lost their lives during last year’s anti-Finance Bill demonstrations — despite the government having dismissed calls to declare it a public holiday.
“June 25th will be a public holiday – a solemn day to honour our fallen Gen Z heroes. We shall lay flowers along Parliament Road, light candles, and remember them with the dignity they deserve. We urge all Kenyans to honour our children and come with a rose, and a candle. Their blood and sacrifice must not go in vain,” he said.
In response, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki stated he won’t be engaging with the Wiper Party Leader in political mudslinging, but declared his readiness to confront him should he go ahead with ‘spreading falsehoods.’
“I hear my big brother Kalonzo has said he doesn’t wish to work with me politically. That is fine with me. For the unkind things he has said about me, I won’t answer him back publicly, not because I can’t, but because I never do public duels with people I respect,” Kindiki stated.
“Nevertheless, if he continues with his falsehoods unprovoked, I will happily tackle him head on. Respect is a two way street,” the DP added while also emphasizing his respect for Kalonzo.
As these events unfold, the country is bracing itself up for what already looks like a high intensity political environment ahead of 2027 general elections.
