Former Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Nancy Njeri Macharia to serve has been nominated as the Chairperson of the Murang’a County Public Service Board.
Dr. Macharia made it to a list of five individuals nominated by Governor Irungu Kang’ata to the board, which is responsible for overseeing public service appointments within the county, on June 18, 2025.
She has held the position for one year after serving nearly a decade at the helm of the national teachers’ employer. If approved, she will take up the new county role for a five-year term, with the possibility of re-appointment for another five years.
Dr. Macharia is scheduled to appear before the assembly’s committee for vetting on Friday, June 27.
Among the others on the list are Dr. Louis Mwende Musikali, Johnson Kang’ethe Kinyua, and Dr. Brian Lishenga Makamu, while Oscar Kimani Gathura was nominated as Secretary.
The assembly has invited the public to submit views on the suitability of the nominees. Submissions must be made via affidavits and delivered by June 26.
TSC has since named Eveleen Mitei as Acting CEO through an internal memo dated June 1, 2025.
