The county government of Kwale has proposed a budget cut of 10.6 billion shillings for the financial year 2025/2026 which is a significant drop from the last year’s budget of 12 billion shillings.

The decline has been attributed to financial constraints in the budget which the Kwale government has shifted focus to healthcare, water and road as the main priority sectors.

The Kwale Assembly budget committee chairperson Manza Beja said that health is a very essential service that rely heavily on water and road connection infrastructure.

This comes as the public participation meetings on the key areas of development projects kicked off at the ward level before the budget estimates are approved.

On his part, the Kwale county budget and economic forum chair Patrick Yasisi noted that the voice of the people matters before the implementation of the projects.
