Kenya’s middle distance queen Faith Kipyegon is set to further inscribe her name in history as she takes on a bold challenge that could cement her legacy in the athletics history.

The 31-year old Olympic champion will be seeking by breaking the 4 minute mile barrier at the Meeting de Paris hosted at Stade Charlety.

Kipyegon will attempt the feat on Thursday evening 26th June 2025,an effort that has gripped not only global athletics community but also stirred National pride back home.

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi was among the leaders to publicly rally support behind Kipyegon. In a widely circulated message he hailed her as a symbol of determination and Kenyan excellence.

“You’re on the cusps of greatness! As you tackle the 1 mile race, the world watches with a bated breath.With a proven track record of achieving the impossible, you are the perfect candidate to make it happen.” Sudi stated adding that all of Kenya is cheering her on.

Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi echoed the National sentiment, writing, “Tough race tomorrow, but you are Faith Kipyegon. Olympic Champion, World Record Holder. Now chasing a sub-4 minute mile. Even the attempt is historic! May Stade Charléty witness what happens when Faith runs.”

Peter Ndegwa the chief executive officer Safaricom also joined Kenyans in rallying behind Kipyegon stating that ” We proudly stand with her and rally the entire country to support her.”

Her historic attempt received widespread endorsement from organizations and leaders across the country.

Faith Kipyegon who already holds world records in the 1500m and 5000m is not just chasing time she is chasing history.
