Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of attempting to intimidate her and also organizing violent demonstrations on Wednesday, June 25.

While addressing the media, moments after inspecting looted businesses in Embu, Governor Mbarire said she received information from credible sources linking Rigathi Gachagua to the violent demonstrations.

Mbarire says protests are supposed to be peaceful, and should not be used for political gain.

She claimed Rigathi Gachagua has been exploiting local leaders to serve his political interests condemning him for misleading the public and controlling Embu’s political arena for personal gain.

“You cannot turn Embu into a battle field. You cannot claim to like the people of Embu and love the people of Embu and punish them at the same time.”

However, Mbarire says she will not be intimidated.

“And I do not care how strong you may be, but you will not intimidate me anymore, and I will not stay silent Rigathi Gachagua. Kama wewe ni Mungu, take my life,” she said.

Similarly, MPs led by Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa claimed Gachagua hired goons from Central Kenya to destroy property and loot businesses in Nairobi CBD.

“It is clear that our former impeached DP has been mobilising resources and goons to destroy government properties and target businesses of people who do not support his ideas,” Barasa said.
