The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary partial closure of the Nairobi-bound carriageway on the A8 Highway between FUSO (Simba Colt) and the Southern Bypass Interchange (Ole Sereni) to allow for essential maintenance works.

According to KenNHA’s public notice issued on Saturday, June 28, the closure will take place from Saturday, July 5, 2025, to Saturday, July 12, 2025 upon which normal activities are expected to resume.

‎“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to notify the public of the temporary partial closure of the Nairobi-bound carriageway on A8 Road between FUSO (Simba Colt) and the Southern Bypass Interchange (Ole Sereni) from Saturday July 5, 2025 to Saturday July 12, 2025 to facilitate essential highway maintenance works along this section,” read the notice signed by KeNHA Director General Eng. K. Ndungu.

‎The statement further added how KeNHA plans to manage traffic during the 8 days period with a set of diversion measures in place for motorists.

“During this period of road closure, heavy vehicles of gross weight greater than 3.5 tons and other motorists heading to the Southern Bypass will be diverted to exit the main highway at Kyang’ombe Slip Road through Old Mombasa Road while other vehicles will use a single lane that will be provided along the affected section,” KeNHA said.

‎Furthermore the authority urged all road users to remain vigilant and comply with instructions from traffic officials.

“Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, follow the proposed traffic management plan herein and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” added Eng. Ndungu.

KeNHA has expressed its commitment to minimizing inconvenience during the maintenance period as it races to ensure quality highways and better connections, in line with the authority’s mandate.
