Nevniah Onyango the young widow of teacher and blogger Albert Ojwang’ has emotionally remembered her husband during his requiem mass at Ridgeways Baptist Church, on June 2, 2025

Nevninah paid tribute to her late husband saying he has left a huge void, ”I didn’t expect that he will leave but it was God’s timing. As human beings we can do anything about it. It’s heavy on me and my son; who doesn’t even understand what’s happening.”

She said Albert was his pillar recalling the last conversation she had with him before he passed away,” when we last spoke while he was at Central Police, I was the last person he talked to. His words were, ‘I love you, see you soon.’ I didn’t know those would be his last.” she said.

Nevniah said the death of her husband has left her and the entire family with great pain asking authorities to take action and make sure those involved are brought to justice. ”I wouldn’t wish the pain we’re going through on anyone. I urge the police to treat everyone fairly.” she said.

The grieving widow however said he will be strong for her family that is what Albert could have wanted.

She said ” I will always be here for us, for our son, for mom, for dad, for you uncle and for everyone, they are looking up to me the way they were looking up to Albert.”

Ojwang’s body will be transported to Homa Bay County on Thursday June 3 for burial at his father’s home in Kakwonyo Village on Friday June 4.
