The National Police Service has confirmed the seizure of two different large sums of cannabis sativa in two separate operations in Narok and Nairobi counties during the NPS’s crackdown campaign on drug traffickers in the country.
The first operation in Narok East was conducted by Ntulele Police Station officers who acted swiftly to intercept a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado on July 1st evening suspected of transporting narcotics from Kisii County to Nairobi. According to a National Police Service statement, the suspect ignored police orders to stop along the Narok-Mai Mahiu Highway prompting a high-speed chase by the police.
“The driver ignored police orders to stop, prompting a high-speed chase along the Narok–Mai Mahiu Highway. The vehicle was later found abandoned along the Nairegie Enkare feeder road after developing mechanical problems. Its two occupants fled into nearby maize plantations and are still at large,” the National Police Service said in a statement.
According to the police, the two occupants of the vehicle fled but they recovered three sacks containing 600 brooms of cannabis sativa (bhang) which has now been placed under police custody together with the vehicle at Ntulele Police Station.
Meanwhile, in another operation in Nairobi’s Kamulu area of Ruai Sub-County, NPS officers apprehended one suspect and seized another 5,660 rolls of cannabis sativa. The suspect is in custody pending court arraignment.
Meanwhile The National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks across the country.
” The National Police Service reiterates its unwavering commitment to combating narcotics and related criminal activities,” NPS statement concluded.
