Police officers from Bondo Police Station on Thursday July 3, conducted an operation targeting illicit brews and narcotics in Nyang’oma Sub-Location, Siaya County.
During the operation, one suspect was arrested and found in possession of 270 rolls of bhang, uncustomed goods, including 50 kilograms of Ugandan sugar, and 78 packets of export cigarettes, among other items.The suspect was placed in police custody, pending processing and arraignment in court.
This follows an incident where police arrested a suspect in possession of 80 rolls of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa (bhang).
The incident occurred in an operation conducted in the Makaburini area, aided by the officers from Kongowea and National Government Administrators.
The suspect, whose name is withheld, was also found with several items, including two knives, 10 gas lighters, among others.
This comes at a time when the police are eradicating substance use around the country to foster a safe environment for all, as well as achieving a drug-free society.
The police in their report have assured Kenyans that they will continue to join hands with other government agencies to deal with narcotics issues once and for all.
“This operation is part of a broader national effort to eliminate the drug menace, in collaboration with other government agencies and members of the public, who continue to play a key role by providing crucial information.” Read the police statement.
The suspect has been arraigned in police custody awaiting to be charged per the rule of law.
