Allow Central Kenya voters to make informed decisions without being blackmailed, insulted, or intimidated, Faith Gitau tells off a group of opposition leaders.
Speaking during relief food distribution for over 1000 vulnerable families in Mkungi Village in Kinangop Constituency, Nyandarua Woman Rep Faith Gitau chastised a vocal political leader from the Mt. Kenya region for failing to manage his tongue and engage in sober politics.
“It’s unfortunate that someone who once held a high job like his can travel the counties of the Central region, deciding who should be elected and rejected in 2027. We are afraid that he has recruited young people from Nyandarua to insult other leaders and cause unrest across the country.” Ms. Gitau added.
Ms. Gitau challenged the outspoken politician to explain why he must be accompanied by buses full of young people every time he does rallies.
“Politics of insults must be stopped; we do not want such politics in our region. ” Reject any leaders whose campaigns are built on insults to other leaders,” warned the woman representative.
She claimed that some politicians fall from grace to grass because of their ego and pride, and they are unable to relate to other elected officials.
She stated that she will not stop the provision of relief food to her voters, which the said political bigwig strongly opposes.
“If he doesn’t want us to distribute rice, beans, and cooking oil, then you should bring what you feel is better than the food donations. If you have nothing to distribute, then slaughter cows as an incentive for the people when we distribute the relief food,” added Ms. Gitau.
She went on to accuse some Nyandarua elected officials of neglecting their oversight responsibilities as they go across the country spreading hatred.
“Instead of providing oversight and advocating for development initiatives for Nyandarua residents, they are following and bringing him here to disrespect local leaders. Leaders from other counties are busy working with other elected leaders to fight for development projects from the national government, but you are roaming the country participating in insults; this is not why Nyandarua citizens elected you,” said Ms. Gitau.
This comes in the wake of heated political temperatures, especially in the mountain region, after the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua from his office one year ago.
