President William Ruto has defended the construction of a mega Church at State House. Speaking on Friday July 4, 2025 the president said he has no apologies to make for building a church at State House.

”Mimi ni mtu namwamini Mungu and I have no apologies to make, kwa kujenga kanisa? Hakuna mtu nitamwomba msamaha, shetani akasirika afanye ile anataka,” the President said.

According to the President the construction is being funded by his own resources and not public funds.

”Nitajenga kanisa inatoshana na State House na haitagharimu serikali hata peni, nitajenga na pesa zangu kwa sababu kanisa ya Mungu ni mahali pa heshima,” he said.

He said that when he moved to State House after being elected president, there was an iron sheet church which is why he decided to build a bigger one.

The president said ”Mimi sijaanzisha kanisa hapa state house nikikuja kulikuwa na kanisa, shida tu ilikuwa ya mabati ndio nikaamua kujenga kanisa inatoshana na state house.”

The president’s remarks comes after a publication by one of the newspapers in the country about plans to construct a mega church at State House.

The president brushed off the article saying ”Hata nasikia kuna gazeti imeandika ati najenga kanisa, ni kweli najenga kanisa State House. ”
