Church leaders have called for calm and restraint ahead of the much-anticipated Saba Saba demonstrations set for Monday, July 7, 2025. Their appeal comes amid heightened tension in the country following recent protests that turned violent, leaving several people dead, scores injured, and businesses looted.

Prophet Joshua Felix of the Blood of Christ Church in Riruta led the call, warning Kenyans against repeating the mistakes seen during the June 25 protests. He urged both the government and protesters to uphold constitutional principles and seek peaceful solutions.

“I urge the Church to pray and offer guidance to our youth so that they can remain obedient and listen to their parents and church leaders,” Prophet Felix said. He emphasized that the church must play a leading role in encouraging young people to avoid violence during the demonstrations.

Prophet Felix further appealed to citizens and political leaders to steer the country away from disaster. “I ask my fellow Kenyans and political leaders not to take a path that could plunge us into disaster, like some of our neighbours who have suffered from war and lost peace,” he added.

The country remains on edge as preparations for Saba Saba intensify, with many fearing a repeat of the chaos witnessed last month. Church leaders are urging dialogue and understanding, warning that continued confrontations and destruction could harm the nation’s stability and unity.

As Kenyans brace for Monday, the message from the pulpit is clear: peace must prevail over violence.
