The National Police Service NPS has warned that any form of looting, vandalism, destruction of property, or incitement to violence during Monday’s planned Saba Saba protests will be treated as criminal acts and met with lawful force.
In a statement issued Sunday July 6, NPS Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga also cautioned protestors against attempting to access restricted government installations or provoking police officers, noting that such actions would attract immediate legal consequences.
While reaffirming the right to peaceful assembly under Article 37 of the Constitution, the Service emphasized that all demonstrations must remain lawful and unarmed.
NPS further assured the public of its professionalism and restraint, but maintained that riotous or violent behavior would not be tolerated.
Kenyans were urged to remain peaceful, observe the law, and report any suspicious activity through official toll-free hotlines.
“Let us stand together as one Nation, upholding the rule of law and promoting peaceful co-existence,” read the statement in part.
This even as tension remains high following the planned protests.
