As Saba Saba protest continue to rock most parts of Kenya, in West Pokot County a different scenario is unfolding. Tension ran high in Bendera area on Monday, July 7, 2025 after residents staged demonstrations over chilling confessions by 16 suspects accused of killing and eating children.
The protests prompted immediate intervention by police officers who were forced to act swiftly in restoring traffic flow that had been brought to a standstill by the angry demonstrators along the Kitale-Kapenguria-Lodwar Road.

While Saba Saba protests are ongoing in other parts of Kenya, in Bendera area, West Pokot County, officers had to lob teargas canisters to disperse angry residents, who had poured onto the streets demanding swift justice.
The resident were shocked last week when the suspects admitted to the horrifying crimes during police interrogations after their arrest.

Bendera residents were driven by grief and outrage over what they termed an unforgivable moral tragedy.
Police have promised a thorough investigation and assured residents that the suspects will face the full force of the law. Security has since been beefed up along the highway and surrounding villages to maintain order.

Calls for swift prosecutions if the confessions are proven, and for measures to protect children across the country have only intensified as the matter continues under legal procedures.
