A family in Ndumberi, Kiambu is mourning the death of a 12-year-daughter who was shot during Monda’s Saba Saba Protests.
According to her mother Lucy Ngugi, Bridgit Njoki was in the house watching television at around 6:20 pm when she was hit by a stray bullet.
”Jana tulikuwa kwa nyumba na mtoto wang muda wa 6;20 hapo na ndio tulisikia kitu imelia sana, na kuangalia mtoto wangu nikaona ako na damu, nikafikiria ni kitu imemkata, kuangalia ndio alianguka chini.”Lucy said.
According to Lucy when they found out that her daughter has been hit by a bullet she called her husband whom helped her to take their daughter to hospital.
”Kuangalia nikaona ako na shimo kwa kichwa tukatafuta gari ya jirani tukamkimbiza hosi na tulipofika ndio waliona kweli mtoto wangu ako na bullet walipojaribu kumsaidia ndo wampeleke hospitali ingine ndio alikata roho.” the grieving mother said
Bridgit’s family is now demanding for justice even if they know that will not take a way the pain, ”hata kama tutapata justice hiyo itarudisha uhai wa mtoto wangu kweli, ” she wondered.
