A dramatic turn of events unfolded on Wednesday July 16 2025 in Nairobi, as Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi faces arrest warrants.

The warrants for Koimburi and two others were issued by a Nairobi Court after they failed to appear in court to face charges of obstructing investigation and giving false information regarding the MP’s alleged abduction.

Koimburi’s alleged abduction initially sparked widespread concern but has now escalated into charges of conspiracy to obstruct justice.

On May 25, 2025, during a period of heightened political tensions, Koimburi and six accomplices, including Kanyenya-ini Ward MCA Grace Nduta Wairimu, reportedly staged a fake abduction in Mugutha, Juja Sub-County, Kiambu.

The move was reportedly orchestrated to prevent Koimburi’s imminent arrest, at a time he was facing four counts related to land fraud at Kiambu Law Courts.

The MP, along with his co-conspirators Peter Kiratu Muhia, David Macharia Gatana, Cyrus Keriu Muhia, Grace Nduta Wairimu, and two others, allegedly fabricated the abduction to mislead authorities

Peter Kiratu Muhia is also facing charges for providing false information to police, having falsely reported the incident to Mugutha Police Station.

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. Ben Mark Ekhubi, the accused, including Koimburi, were granted bail of Ksh. 300,000 each. However, warrants of arrest were issued for the two other suspects not present in court. The case is set for mention on August 5, 2025.

What started as a widely publicized case of abduction during a tense political climate is now poised to lead to the arrest and possible imprisonment of the embattled MP.
