The National Police Service (NPS) has officially joined the Commonwealth Police Sports Union (CPSU), marking a new chapter in international cooperation through sports.

The move was marked by historic event held at NPS headquarters, Jogoo House ‘A’ featuring Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, DIG Gilbert Masengeli, senior NPS officials and a visiting CPSU delegation led by its Executive President, Mr. Vinod Kumar Mall, Secretary Mr. Sunil Kumar among other members.

A Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation was signed between the two parties, and the CPSU membership certificate was formally presented to the Inspector General.

“Joining the Commonwealth Police Sports Union will not only bolster sports within the National Police Service, but also strengthen collaboration with law enforcement agencies in combating transnational crime and promoting peace and security,” said IG Kanja.

Kanja also highlighted NPS’s long-standing reputation as a sporting powerhouse, having nurtured athletes who have excelled on local and global stages.

“We remain committed to recruiting and nurturing talent within our ranks, aimed at improving officers’ physical and mental well-being and enhancing their operational effectiveness,” he added.

On his part Mr. Mall praised the NPS for its hospitality and commended the Inspector General for championing sports within the Service.

The Commonwealth Police Sports Union is an international body that promotes fitness, discipline, and teamwork among police personnel across member countries of the Commonwealth through sports activities and exchange programs.
