Police officers from Kilifi Police station have arrested a suspected drug trafficker in Kibaoni area, Kilifi North Sub-County following a tip-off from the public. According to a police statement the successful operation was as a result of an ambush set up by the law enforces.

“Acting on the intelligence, the officers set up an ambush at Kibaoni and successfully arrested the suspect,” part of the National Police Service statement read.

NPS also confirmed recovery of eleven (11) sachets of a substance believed to be heroin, as well as KSh 800, thought to be proceeds from the illegal trade.

The suspect is currently being held at Kilifi Police Station awaiting arraignment while the the drugs and cash have also been secured at the same facility.

Meanwhile the authorities have urged member of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in effort to curb the drug menace in Coast region.

“The National Police Service commends members of the public for their continued cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking and other crimes,” NPS said.
