Kenyatta National Hospital KNH has confirmed the death of a patient under mysterious circumstances.
In a press release issued on Thursday, July 17, 2025, KNH said that the incident occurred shortly after visiting hours. The patient 52 years old was found in a ward lying in blood-soaked beddings. Hospital staff examined the patient and officially declared that he was dead.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm an incident regarding the tragic death of a patient at Kenyatta National Hospital,” read part of the statement signed by Dr. William Sigilai on behalf of hospital CEO, Dr Evanson Kamuri.
The hospital said the patient was discovered around 2pm shortly after visiting hours and was promptly examined and certified dead.
The matter had been reported to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other government security agencies for further action.
Thursday’s killing is the second in five months after a similar incident was reported in February this year.
