Naivasha Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara has been arrested. She was apprehended at her home in Naivasha after being linked to the chaos witnessed in Naivasha town during recent demonstrations.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI picked up the MP from her home in Maraigushu, Naivasha, on Thursday afternoon.

Speaking after her arrest, Kihara said she had not been informed of the reasons for her arrest, claiming it was politically motivated.

According to Kihara, none of the officers who arrested her disclosed why she was being detained. She stated that she was only told she was being taken to DCI headquarters to record a statement.

The MP criticized the government, describing her arrest as a witch hunt, and claimed she was being targeted because of her political stance.
