U.S. data operations firm Astronomer has revealed that its CEO, Andy Byron, has resigned, following an on-camera incident involving him and its HR lead, Kristin Cabot, embracing each other, while swaying to music at Wednesday’s Coldplay concert.
“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin its search for the next Chief Executive Officer,” Astronomer revealed in an official statement.
The now-viral incident showed Byron hugging Kristin on a mega screen in the Massachusetts arena, before abruptly ducking and hiding from the camera, with netizens speculating an affair between the two.
Both executives, reportedly married to different partners, were placed on administrative leave after the incident caused public backlash.
Astronomer went ahead to assure of its continued commitment to its values and culture.
“Our leaders are expected to set a standard in both conduct and accountability and recently, that has not been met.”
The New York-based tech firm further revealed an ongoing internal investigation to determine the nature of the relationship.
Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete de Joy will continue to serve as Astronomer’s interim CEO.
