A magistrate court in Kibera has ordered Kenyatta National Hospital and Nairobi Women’s Hospital to release the medical records of Kennedy Kalombotole, a man suspected of committing two murders at Kenyatta National Hospital.

Principal Magistrate Daisy Mutahi issued the order for the release of the medical records as part of ongoing investigations into Kalombotole’s alleged involvement in the killings. The court also directed that Kalombotole be detained at Kilimani Police Station until Thursday, when the medical report is expected to be availed.

Kalombotole was arrested following preliminary investigations that linked him to the murder of Edward Mainge Ndegwa, who was killed on the 7th floor, ward 7C of Kenyatta National Hospital on July 17. Kalombotole is also suspected to be behind another murder that took place during the night of February 6 and 7.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has requested the court to allow Kalombotole’s detention for 21 days to facilitate further investigations. However, the defense counsel has strongly opposed the request for prolonged detention.
