Six suspects linked to the fatal shooting of a police officer on June 18 at the Thika-Garissa Road interchange have been arraigned at the Thika Law Courts.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspects were arrested in Kahawa West. DCI also revealed that it has secured 21 days for further investigations.
“Thanks to crucial forensic leads, detectives launched an operation that led them to a hideout in Kahawa West,” where five suspects — Joseph Ngotho Karanja, Benjamin Kambo Mwangi, Athanase Ndacaisaba, Kelvin Mbilika Ollingo, and Samuel Omurambi — were arrested. A vehicle used in the crime, registration number KDQ 529W, was also recovered.
The sixth suspect, Philip Muiruri Muchiri, was later arrested in the Kiamumbi area.
“The six have been brought before the Thika Law Courts, where detectives secured a 21-day custodial order, allowing for an extensive investigation,” the DCI added.
The case will be mentioned on August 11, 2025 as investigations into possible links to wider criminal networks continue.
