Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has strongly refuted claims that she dominates her husband, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
This is following recent remarks made by Kikuyu MP and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.
Addressing Kenyan clergy during a tour in the United States on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, Pastor Dorcas dismissed the notion that her presence and speeches during public appearances were signs of control over her spouse.
She described the accusations as misleading and disrespectful to their marriage and the values they promote.
“When he lets me speak like this, it is not because I ‘sit on him’. How can you sit on a man like this, who is causing the whole nation not to sleep?” she said.
She said they operate as a team with shared family values, which is why they often appear together .
“We are one unit. There’s nothing wrong with that. We move together and stand for the same ideals prayer, family, and service,” she said. According to Pastor Dorcas what people say will not stop her from supporting her husband , ”I will continue loving my husband, i will continue supporting him,” she said.
She slammed those who claim that she dominated Gachagua saying what they have is normal ”I don’t know what is wrong if someone is moving with her husband?” she paused
In a video that circulated online, Ichung’wah is heard mocking Gachagua’s ‘wantam’ slogan, dismissing it as nothing more than a household phrase.
He further claimed that Gachagua was preoccupied with politicking at the expense of his union with Pastor Dorcas.
The MP was speaking in Kajiado Central during an empowerment programme attended by senior national and county leaders.
