The Manchester United coach has reportedly paid for 30 members of the team staff to attend the Europa League finals with their families.
Later this month, the Red Devils will play Tottenham in Bilbao, but not every employee will be present for the important match.
The United management decided that the coaches, physiotherapists, and support staff, together with their families, would be responsible for purchasing their own tickets. In the same vein, the club will not pay for the players’ travel expenses, and each player has been given only two tickets for their loved ones.
United have struggled this season, currently sitting 16th in EPL standings, and they have a chance to rewrite their season with a win in the finals.
The United coach wanted to ensure that the whole supporting team would be at this crucial match to also feel honoured for their good work and commitment throughout the season.
Reuben Amorim took the matters into his own hands when he heard the original ticketing plan.
The Portuguese manager reportedly paid for 30 employees to travel to Spain for the final with their families, according to ESPN.
He stated, “The situation is simple,” at a press conference on Wednesday. “We know that we have had a lot of things with people leaving and changes in the staff. In this moment, in our club, sometimes it is hard [to know] when to give and when to take.
“It is complicated for the club to start giving to other members of staff. It is a really hard position. That situation was explained, and in that moment I could help. It is not going to change my life to help the staff to be there, to be better for the final” added the Portuguese.
“All the players had the same reaction. Everyone wants the staff there, their families there. It is hard to manage things in our club, so it is a simple thing.”
