Police in Nairobi have arrested four suspects during a late-night operation following a tip-off from members of the public. The arrest occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m. on Wednesday at a petrol station along Kenyatta Avenue.
According to police reports, the suspects were intercepted while inside a motor vehicle after a concerned citizen reported seeing one of the men displaying what appeared to be a firearm. Officers on night patrol responded swiftly to the alert and approached the vehicle for inspection.
A thorough search of the vehicle and its occupants led to the recovery of a plastic revolver, six rubber bullets, and a knife bearing the inscription “AK47.” Authorities noted that all four men appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the arrest.
“The recovery of what resembled a firearm in a public space raises serious concerns. Even imitation weapons can cause panic or be used in criminal activities,” said a senior officer involved in the operation.
All suspects were taken into custody for further interrogation. The vehicle has since been impounded as investigations continue to determine the suspects’ intentions and whether the recovered items are linked to any ongoing criminal activity.
