Wiper Democratic Movement, Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka has declared June 25, 2025, as ‘Liberation Day’ to honour Gen Z activists who died during the 2024 anti-Finance Bill protests.

Speaking at a rally on Friday, June 6, 2025 in Emali, Kalonzo has called the Gen-Zs as ”champions for change.”

He said ” Kwa heshima ya vijana wetu waliouliwa mpaka dunia ikasimama 2024 sisi leo tunatangaza tarehe 25 mwezi huu itakuwa Gen-Z day, hakuna kwenda kazi.”

The former Vice President has called on the government to compensate families of the youth who died and those who were injured during the protests.

The Wiper Leader says the opposition will continue defending Kenyans, giving an example of activist Rose Njeri who was arrested for allegedly ‘jamming’ parliament website by creating an email, for Kenyans to use to oppose the Finance Bill.

Kalonzo strongly criticized the Kenya Kwanza Government for trying to silence brave Kenyans who are willing to stand up for the nation’s future. ”Juzi walimshika msichana mdogo, Rose Njeri sisi tukiwa na huyu ndugu yangu Eugene Wamalwa, na Chief Justice David Maraga tulienda kumtoa.”

Kalonzo has also announced the official formation of the Wiper Patriotic Front, a new political movement to support Generation Z’s push for justice and good governance.

”Chama cha Wiper sasa tunasema WPF yaani Wiper Patriotic Front, wangapi wanakubali hiyo jina?” he said

He urged Kenyans to register as voters to strengthen the opposition’s bid to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 elections. ”Twende tuchukue ID’s tujiandikishe tupige kura.”

The Wiper Patriotic Front aims to unite opposition leaders and expand Wiper’s appeal beyond its Ukambani base.

Kalonzo and other opposition leaders are in a political rally in the Ukambani region where they are wooing voters for their support a head of the 2027, elections.

The opposition leaders rally in the region comes days after Deputy President held a meeting with local women leaders where he donated KS2 million for women empowerment projects.
